Join us for our first 2020 Crossover Session, "Agriculture's Voice in Statewide Initiatives." In this session, our speakers will discuss programs that are designed to accelerate growth in Kansas. The panelists for this discussion will include:
Kansas Lieutenant Governor Lynn Rogers — Office of Rural Prosperity: After taking office in January 2019, Governor Laura Kelly and Lieutenant Governor Lynn Rogers created the Office of Rural Prosperity (ORP). The ORP is a nonpartisan initiative established in part to ensure that rural Kansas is heard and represented in the Statehouse.
Kansas Deputy Secretary of Transportation Lindsey Douglas — Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE): IKE is a new transportation program tailored to meet today’s and tomorrow’s needs. It is a plan for Kansans, developed in consultation with Kansans, that works for the whole state. IKE is designed with flexibility to address challenges and opportunities faster, giving KDOT the opportunity to partner with communities and solve problems from the ground up.
Director of Strategy, Biosciences & Technology at the Kansas Department of Commerce, Trent Armbrust — Framework for Kansas: The last time the state of Kansas had a comprehensive strategy for economic growth was in 1986 when the Redwood-Krider report was published. Now, under the leadership of Governor Laura Kelly, Secretary of Commerce David Toland has convened a group of stakeholders including business leaders and economic development professionals from across the state, along with members of academia and Commerce staff, to develop the Kansas Framework for Growth — a comprehensive strategy to accelerate economic growth in Kansas.
